I am writing this letter in appreciation to all of the staff at Port Base Hospital. Recently my wife Linda was admitted with two very serious blood infections. I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone concerned.
From the two paramedics who arrived in less than 10 minutes after I telephoned and diagnosed the infections, which was spot on, and also comforted her on the way to Hospital. I have forgotten their names but they know who they are. They would have to be just about the best of the best.
To the doctors, all the nursing staff at emergency Icn wards 1A and 2B, the radiologists who stayed to make sure my wife was looked after. The physios, the nurses in ACCC and especially the fabulous nurses from the HITH section who attended to my wife every day after she returned home. Nothing was too much trouble. Ladies, you all did a tremendous job and, if not for all of you, just maybe, it might have turned out differently.
This is the third time you have made the difference and helped my wife through a very difficult situation and, like it or not, you and all the staff at Port Base Hospital will always have a place deep in my heart for now and evermore.
A very grateful old man
