In regards to the letter, “Continued Interest”, written by Stephen Lockhart he writes, “However, climate science is based on measured data, not opinions.” He then details the various data records. If Stephen Lockhart had done some research then he would know that the data records are not what they appear.

Ken Stewart and other researchers have shown that the BOM (Bureau of Meteorology) has fudged the figures upward by 40 per cent. Wow, and we are supposed to bow down to these revisionists and accept a Carbon Tax or ETS which are just schemes to get more money from the taxpayers of this country.
Another scandal involves New Zealand. “The New Zealand Climate Science Coalition found adjustments that were even more inexplicable (0.006 degrees was adjusted up to 0.9 degrees).”
NIWA (The National Institute for Water and Atmospheric Research) was forced to disavow the National Temperature record but New Zealand signed the Kyoto Protocol and these dodgy figures. Stephen Lockhart seems to put a lot of stock in the GISS records. GISS is run by James Hanson. Here are the facts behind GISS.
1. There used to be 6,000+ temperature stations that records were kept for. It is now less than 3000. Hanson seems to think that less is better. Rubbish thinking. I used to be an analyst and more data is definitely better.
2. James Hanson has regularly said that he modifies temperature data and he has some ‘special’ algorithm to revise temperature data according to ‘special’ conditions. More rubbish. Many people see that all the recent station data gets modified upward and that past station data gets modified downward.
3. Temperature stations mysteriously move without GISS telling anyone. Anthony Watts found this. Example, a temp station in a mountainous area gets moved to a lower elevation, thus warming is seen.
4. Hanson claims that one temperature station can accurately be used as a proxy within a 500km radius. This is his (in)famous gridded temperature algorithm. Yeah right! What is the difference in temps between Observatory Hill and Penrith? The distance is approx 60km yet there is a 10 degree Celsius difference.
5. James Hanson is a green activist. He was arrested recently for demonstrating against a new coal mine. He believes that our planet should only support One Billion people and only last week said a coal train is a “Train of Death”. GISS Data cannot be relied upon. Its integrity is lost and Hanson is the one that claims that 2010 as the hottest year ever.
Phil Jones and the CRU. Phil Jones was at the centre of the climategate Email scandal. He seems to believe that he is a gatekeeper of which papers get published or not. He is also the CRUTemp gatekeeper. He admitted losing the raw temperature data at the climategate inquest. Wow he ‘lost’ the raw data?? Is this incompetence or what? Most people would be sacked for what he has done. The Russians complained that he left out many of their temperature stations, especially the ones that show cooling trends. One of Phil Jones’s programs had a note next to a line of code that said ‘fudge factor’. It was an upward multiplication.
So here we are. Major data keepers have been playing with the data and we are supposed to believe them? Climate science is all about politics – it was never about science and the scientists in charge are given large sums of money to promote Global Warming/ Climate Change/ Climate Disruption or whatever they call it now. Stephen Lockhart would know all this if he did a bit of research and actually looked at web sites that were skeptical but I think he only has his nose in GISS. 2010 was not even close to the hottest year ever as much as Stepen and James Hanson would like to think so. I suppose he has to say what he said since he is a cheerleader of the Global Warming Alarmist movement and he wouldn’t have a job as a presenter otherwise. Moving to a separate issue – A price on Carbon. The Carbon Exchange in Chicago shut down forever last year with the price stuck on five 5 cents/ton. The Greens want a price of $20. The Carbon trading scheme in Europe was suspended indefinitely two weeks ago amongst widespread fraud. What makes our government and the supporters of a carbon tax think that things will be different here?
