I, and no doubt many other Australians, have had it up to here with vested interests such as the big mining companies, the Australian Minerals Council, the Murdoch press and talk-back radio, telling us how we should think and vote on the many important issues currently facing this nation.
The Australian Chamber of Commerce’s current campaign to mislead Australian voters over the funding of the proposed increase in the Superannuation Levy is just another example of this (Your Letters, Port Macquarie Independent, December 26).
They know that incremental increases in the Superannuation Levy have always been paid by Australian employees foregoing the necessary amount from the next CPI and productivity increase in their wages and salaries. If the Federal Government cannot develop a mechanism to fund the increase from the Mining Tax it is certain that this situation will again prevail.
