Harry Creamer (Letters to the Editor, World leader, August 16) states that, “Since 1900, average temperatures have increased by 0.8 degrees celsius and all the scientific modelling predicts more emissions will drive temperatures higher, beyond the 2 degrees celsius safe limit that nations have agreed.”
Some people have suggested 6 degrees celsius change which has not happened. A 2 degree change is nothing to be concerned about as global warming enabled the Vikings to explore new territories and colonise new lands.
Computer models have been greatly exaggerated to make us believe that carbon dioxide can cause additional warming. They blame weather extremes on CO2.  Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister, said that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (which she founded) was using the global warming scenario to push forward socialist agendas.
“Alarmism over climate change is a great benefit to many, providing government funding for academic research and a reason for government bureaucracies to grow. Alarmism also offers an excuse for governments to raise taxes, taxpayer funded subsidies for businesses that understand how to work the political system, and a lure for big donations to charitable foundations promising to save the planet.” (No need to panic about global warming: The Wall Street Journal)
