Is PMHC serious about tourism?
One has to wonder as we move into the second most “touristy” time of the year.
I was appalled by the poor, nay abandoned, look of the grassed areas adjacent to the boardwalk. As I walked off the Buller Street Bridge I was confronted with grass that was halfway up adult persons’ legs. The grass was so tall and old that it was seeding. A clear sign of neglect. The grass had not been attended to for sometime; as I am sure it wouldn’t go unnoticed by the tourists looking to enjoy our Beautiful Town of Port Macquarie.
I continued along the path past the Coop onto the boardwalk proper to find that the grass was even longer there. This area is highly frequented by visitors and I’m sure they do not like trudging through long, unkempt grass to ride the boats. After rain they would get their feet unnecessarily wet and would be put off riding the boats in wet shoes. A big put-off.
To add insult to injury, as I walked from the boardwalk onto the edge of Town Green, I noticed that the grass had been recently cut. Town Green is the centre piece of Port Macquarie. It is therefore important that the grass is properly looked after. How sad I was to see that the imbecile that had cut, sorry gouged, the grass had made such a botched job of it as it would probably have been better left uncut until someone who knew what they were doing had completed the job.
Where are the supervisors? Does the Council have any who are accountable? What is the Administrator doing, as the BUCK stops with him?
