Crippling costs

I was in Jupiters Casino this week and the two rather well fed women playing poker machines to my right were complaining bitterly about the crippling rise in the cost of living.
It’s difficult to imagine a conversation filled with more ‘irony’ than that one and I couldn’t help thinking that it was a metaphor for the current economic debate.
It made me smile but also made me yearn for the good old caveman days when natural selection was an integral part of human evolution. All the fleet footed, intelligent people in the community would have said “there’s a sabre tooth tiger…..quick….run!!” Those two would have been saying “here kitty, kitty kitty!!!”
