Levy on air?

While Lesley Chapman (letters 8/9) disagrees with some of my biblical interpretation, we both agree that we should prevent the physical pollution of our land.
We would seem to disagree as to whether CO2 in excessive quantities constitutes pollution and I suspect we may also disagree as to whether vibrating air (ie, noise), visible radiation (ie, bright lights shining on your house) and perhaps nuclear radiation are pollutants.
I fully agree that there was never a command from God to tax the air we breathe and I can assure Lesley Chapman that no-one in Government has any plans whatsoever for a breathing air tax.
On the other hand though, there is a $70bn hole in Tony Abbott’s plans for Australia’s budget and he may therefore be interested in a levy on the air we breathe.
