A matter of facts

In the Global Warming debate, I wish to take issue with a letter from Global Warming (GW) advocate, Stephen Lockhart. (PM Independent 27/1/11).

Your erstwhile correspondent claims that GW alarmists have a monopoly on all the facts and that any doubters “are not entitled to their own facts”.

Accordingly, I wish to draw his attention to the findings of the inquiry into the “Climategate” scandal released in July 2010.

It was revealed that Dr Phil Jones, of East Anglia University Climate research unit, was largely responsible for thousands of emails being sent to colleagues – mainly in the UK and US – prior to Copenhagen. These emails apparently revealed:

1) A systematic attempt to evade
FOI (Freedom of Info) requests.

2) Discussions on ways to denigrate any of their OWN research data when it did not fit in with their own framework.

3) Actively attempting to prevent publication of peer-reviewed research by climate scientists with opposing views.

So it is obvious, if anyone is “not entitled to their own facts”, it is this research centre (and their world-wide colleagues) which has ostensibly been a global leader in climate research.
