Would a People’s Bank mean no new taxes for flood repairs?

If Queensland or Australia had a People’s Bank, the five billion dollars needed for flood repairs could be created in BLACK INK immediately. No new taxes would be needed.

If this common sense approach was adopted, I suppose it would take away some of the ‘feel good’ giving feeling now being felt by people generously donating.

However, there are a multitude of other charities and poor people who need money.

The idea of a People’s Bank does not fit too well with the BIG BOY bankers. They took away the original People’s Bank, the old Commonwealth Bank, and they sure don’t intend to have to destroy another one.
