The Independent must have been desperate to fill some spare centimetres to justify printing “Traitor Honoured” by Frank Brown last week. This chronicle on the neo-socialist challenges facing Labor voters in Port Macquarie really spoke to me. As an argument it’s a frustrating failure of a narration with some character assassination but totally devoid of any attempt of the slightest substantiation via statement of facts.
Come on Frank, you can keep on flushing the milk of human kindness down the S-bend of cynicism as much as you like but please indulge us poor readers with an insight into your wisdom and how your conclusion was reached. Who did they betray and how? We shiver with anticipation while waiting for you to indulge us.
Your political competence and credibility is overshadowed by the lack of a structured argument with factual support. The whole of the narration is less than its parts: it’s neither sarcastic enough to take off as a comical exercise nor meaty enough to be particularly provocative.
