We’re all boat people

Perhaps the citizens on pages one and four of the Independent July 12, 2012 should reflect on their own origins before they condemn asylum seekers.
With the exception of indigenous people, nobody has a history of much more than two hundred years in Australia.
This wonderful country is populated with the descendants of immigrants from many nations. For us to deny the same privilege to these unfortunate people is to be inhumane.
Contrary to their narrow minded opinions, this country is doing very well and will continue to do well despite the negativity of the general public.
