Congratulations to the brains at Port Macquarie-Hastings Council for once again making life difficult for residents of Wauchope and Port to travel to and/or from one to the other.
Probably because of no major disruptions to the trip either way for at least one month, the decision was made to resurface Oxley Highway around the Lake Innes area at the same time (November 2 to 5) the Pacific Highway was being resurfaced between the Doughnut and Hasting River Drive, therefore nullifying any alternate route.
This is almost better than the usual major road works every school holiday period.
I presume the excuse this time (again) is that neither work is actually being done by council, but by contractors/RTA who apparently don’t have to get permission from anyone to do what they like when they like.
