I wish to thank Mr Watson (PMI 17/11) for recommending the book by French author Donna Laframboise. While I haven’t been able to obtain the book yet, over this past weekend I was able to Google some book reviews and am now even more convinced about the corruption and deception within the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
While most people support research into renewable energy sources, we have been led to believe that this is necessary because humans ‘are pumping carbon into the atmosphere’ as Mr Feeney puts it (PMI 17/11). It’s actually co2 I think.
However, Mr Feeney needs to explain why levels of atmospheric Co2 are currently rising while three of the five climate science institutes are recording temperature trends, from both satellite and balloons, which have levelled off or are lowering during this past decade. While in Europe there have been recent warnings of an approaching mini ice age. And if Mr Feeney believes that ‘pumping carbon’ into the atmosphere causes global warming, then he still needs to explain why there was a cycle of global cooling from the 1940s to 1970s when Post War industrial activity ‘pumping carbon’ was heavy and intense. Accordingly, your erstwhile correspondent may be interested to know about some results of scientific research, published in recent months, which may help to explain the reason (and many have held this view for many years).
A portion of an editorial in the Washington Post (Aug. 30, 2011) reads, “It turns out the sun’s cosmic rays play a commanding role in atmospheric cloud formation, and thus surface temperatures. This is according to research – in the August 25 edition of the journal ‘Nature’ by scientists at the prestigious CERN (European Centre for Nuclear Research) particle physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland.”
There were 63 scientists from 17 European and American institutes involved in this study. While these scientists at CERN have distanced themselves from such media reports by saying the research is still in its infancy, it still shows that the jury is still out on this matter.
The CERN project leader, Jasper Kirkby, became interested in the issue in 1996 after hearing a pair of Danish scientists at a science conference in the UK. The day following that conference, then Chairman of the IPCC, Bert Bolin, denigrated their research, saying this pair were ‘scientifically extremely naïve and irresponsible’. They were both vilified, marginalised and government funding for their research suddenly dried up – the very next day!
In 1998, Kirkby made a similar mistake of announcing to the scientific fraternity, that his research would probably be able to account for 50-100 per cent of global warming – due to nature (cosmic rays). And again it didn’t take long for the ‘global warming establishment’ to lobby the western governments which control CERN, and his project was canned too. It took nearly a decade, and many compromises, before Kirkby was able to persuade his superiors at CERN to allow him to pursue this project again.
People who search out an “online supplement, will see the striking potency of cosmic rays in creating the conditions for seeding clouds”. They are the words of a climate researcher and author who also wrote “CERN, and the Danes, have in all likelihood found the Holy Grail of climate science. But the religion of climate science won’t yet permit a celebration of the find”. Of Kirkby and his team, he says they are “world-renowned scientists who stood up against global warming hysteria, political persecution and fraud”.
While Mr Feeney may agree that there is no such thing as ‘settled science’, it appears as though many of his colleagues from the global warming bureaucracy do. Otherwise how can one account for the behaviour of the Chairman of the IPCC in condemning and bagging these genuine and legit research scientists. At the very least, that kind of behaviour exposes the hallmarks of someone (or some institution, namely the IPCC) who has something to hide, something to lose, or both.
I challenge anyone to read the book by Donna Laframboise and not be convinced accordingly. It is meticulously documented (and I have only read reviews). Yet our minority government, with the help of the Greens, has saddled us with legislation which will cripple our country. And it is all based on lies and corruption from ‘The Delinquent Teenager’, which is the label which Laframboise gives the IPCC, and which also forms part of the title of her revealing book.
