I am writing about the review of Hastings Public School. As you would be well aware, many of the parents of Hastings felt moved to complain about the funding cuts your government has forced upon our school community. It would seem that, in a punitive action, District Office of the Department has decided to respond by initiating a review of Hastings.
Although I am confident that Hastings will pass their review with flying colours because of the great staff that work there, and the excellent leadership of Principal Grant Heaton, I am still bewildered that this review seems to be the result of parents voicing concerns about funding cuts.
You will be held to account by many in the close community of Hastings, and in the wider community, who value the education of their children and who want to see politicians of all colours support education.
You may be able to convince the public that cutting money to education is in the best interests of our community (I very much doubt it) but no-one will support the seemingly mean spirited punishment of those who complain.
