PORT Macquarie Rowing Club held its annual general meeting and awards night on Saturday to mark the end of another year of competitive rowing.
Kim Chilton’s outstanding year was recognised with the women’s pointscore champion honour after brilliant performances at regional, state and national regattas.
Chilton’s award was accepted by Deb Gardner, as she along with her husband Tony, have moved to Canada.
The men’s pointscore champion was Brian Glawson.
Glawson concentrated on his training regime this year and it proved fruitful in his endeavours at regional, state and national regattas.
He also took out a further two awards, winning the Club Person of the Year gong for his efforts on and of the rowing course.
Glawson also was awarded the infamous “boatwrecker award” for an obvious incident he wishes to forget.
Junior pointscore champion was Sheridan Duck for her outstanding efforts over the past 12 months.
Duck also took part in the North Coast Academy of Sport rowing squad at both state and national level.
Kate Hartley’s rowing has advanced quickly and she was awarded the most improved honour, while Mimi O’Donovan was named novice of the year.
The encouragement award went to Jett Ramsay.
The Port Macquarie Rowing Club is now working hard on preparations for the Three Rivers Marathon held every year over 26 kilometres at Port Macquarie, this year to be held on 18 August.
The event is open to all kinds of water craft, as long as they are paddled.
