Start the year with a shimmy, tap into your inner rhythm
At the beginning of the year many of us start to think about learning a new skill, making new friends and getting fit but all too often mid-January sees us stuck in the same old rut. Salsa Footprints Cuban Dance School may have the answer, with brand new classes starting February 6 at Rotary Community Centre, Hasting River Drive.
There’s Salsa at Beginner and more advanced levels, plus chachacha and other latin dance styles to choose from. Best of all, you don’t need to bring a partner and once you’ve learnt the basics there are regular parties very month where you can try out your brand new moves.
“Cuban music and dance are very popular around the world, and Port Macquarie has hosted the Buena Vista Social Club and the Cuban Ballet Revolucion in recent months. Now’s a great time to tap into the trend,” says Galina Turker, the owner of the Salsa Footprints school.
Galina has been teaching Salsa dancing in the area for the last 10 years. She started ballet at the tender age of five in London, and then went on to learn and teach Balkan Folk Dance, Belly Dance, Bollywood, and Latin Dance styles. Her Salsa Footprints Demo Team appear at various venues in the Hastings and are actively seeking new performers.
