Bilambil soccer flourishes

BILAMBIL Junior Soccer Club will end their season with a presentation day this Sunday at their homeground at Bilambil Sports Ground.
The day will include a complementary catered spit roast lunch for each child member and parents and structured activities for the registered players as well as music and trophies.
Club vice-president Kath Carmichael said the day would cap off a great season for the small club.
“We are absolutely proud and delighted to say that Bilambil Junior Soccer Club has had a wonderful season in 2013,” she said.
“We have almost tripled our membership in 2013 and it has been an absolute credit to the local community that they have helped to get this club back up to it’s former glory.
“The addition of two new sponsors has been invaluable in helping us to get new equipment, uniforms, and to purchase new trophies and prizes for our presentation day.
“Bilambil Heights Realty has come on board as our major sponsor this year, and it is this kind of local support that really helps a small club to develop. Our other sponsor for 2013 is Summergrove Estate and their commitment to our club has been gratefully received”.
She said the club had “come back fighting after some tough times”, and could stand proud at the end of this season.
“Not only are our teams playing at a high standard week to week, we have also brought back Saturday morning barbecues at our home games through the devoted commitment of our local families to ensure this club continues to grow through fundraising,” she said.
“This is the story of a very small, community-based club that was struggling for direction last year. Well, the club is back, bigger and better and the story will continue into 2014.
“This club is about family, fun, teamwork and building our community. We are proud of the friendships that have developed between team members, parents, and families as a result of belonging to this growing club. Look out for them in 2014 – they’ll be back, even stronger.
