TRAINING is a great way to get motivated, fit and eliminate the risk of injury leading up to the Head to Head Walk Run.
The best place to train, according to organisers, is the wonderful Crescent Head beach, where the Head to Head Walk Run will take place on the 29 September 2013.
Exercise physiologist and owner of At My Pace Rhonda Coppin has provided a list of the do’s and don’ts when training.
Rhonda outlines everything from stretching, to staying hydrated and wearing the correct shoes and this is all available on the event website.
“If you have never entered an event like the Head to Head Walk Run it is important to have a good training schedule,” she said.
“You should set yourself a personal goal, particularly if you haven’t exercised consistently for a while.”
Rhonda has some fantastic training tips to build self-esteem and to reach a goal.
“Don’t try and run a marathon on your first training session, you may injury yourself. Your goals may be to complete the 5km, 10km or 20km Walk Run or even to challenge yourself to improve your fitness or to lose weight. Just remember that you need to make your training fun even if you are taking your training seriously – you don’t want to injury yourself. ”
The 10-week program will help prepare both mentally and physically for the challenges that lie ahead for the big event.
