Ironman rush re-lived

All the action and excitement of the 2012 Urban Hotel Group Ironman Australia Triathlon was re-lived when a one hour highlights package went to air on Channel 10 on Saturday.
Event owners World Triathlon Corporation have a television rights agreement with Channel 10, which will showcase Greater Port Macquarie to the world in a one hour highlights feature on the race held in May.
The program will also be repeated on 10’s digital broadcaster One HD throughout July.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Manager of Tourism and Economic Development said the television deal is a key component of Council’s interest in the event.
“World Triathlon Corporation have produced a very professional television special which really highlights the beauty of the region as shown off throughout the Ironman race,” Ms Hall said.
“Our coastline and picturesque scenery from throughout the Hastings feature during the program with some incredible aerial shots along the bike and run courses.”
The program follows not only the men’s and women’s pro races in Ironman, but first time competitors and their journey to become an Ironman.
“In terms of marketing potential a one hour program on national free-to-air television that showcases our region is certainly one of the big drawcards for hosting Ironman,” Ms Hall said.
“It’s not possible to put an advertising dollar figure on that fantastic level of exposure to a national
market.”
