The premier netball competition for the region kicked off last Sunday at the Tamworth Sports Dome, with the first round of the Grain Corp Regional State League for the Northern Inland.
Twelve teams from across the region competed, including Armidale, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Moree, Inverell, Narrabri and Quirindi in two divisions.
After Round 1 of the competition Armidale were unbeaten after three games, leading division one and looked extremely strong and Tamworth are leading in division two.
“Going by the results of their matches in division one, Armidale had three wins and no losse. This definitely shows that they are going to be very strong in this competition,” said Erin Chillingworth, Netball NSW Regional Coordinator for Northern Inland.
“Tamworth in division two had two wins and a bye and are sitting somewhat equal to Narrabri who have also had two wins and a by. However, Tamworth are on top based on points for and against,” Ms Chillingworth said.
“So it looks like at this stage in division two that Tamworth and Narrabri are the teams to beat.
“This is the premier netball competition in the region and it’s a fantastic opportunity for the players to compete against the best from the area.
“GrainCorp’s addition to the Netball NSW family as a major partner provides support to Regional State League netball competitions in the Riverina, West/Central West and the Northern Inland,” Erin Chillingworth said.
Round 2 takes teams to Gunnedah on July 31.
