Redmen take top spot

North Armidale have positioned themselves nicely on top of the New England Mutual Premier League ladder after a strong performance against North Companions on the weekend, winning 5-1.
Their cause was also helped by a draw from previous ladder leaders Demon Knights against Tamworth FC on the weekend.
North Armidale started slowly against North Companions who came out strong in the first half, keeping the score to nil-all at half-time. In the second half the Redmen kicked up a gear to score five goals to North Companions’ one. Goal scorers for North Armidale included two goals to Captain David Griffith who has just returned to the side after three weeks away, Tim Purser, Alex Cornish and Joe Horneman.
“The last couple of games haven’t been great performances but we seemed to put a lot better effort in on Saturday, especially the second half where we were able to get back on track.
“Having Captain David Griffith back in the squad has been great for us.
“We will start building and getting everything going, we are on top of the comp so that is always a good spot to be,” said coach John Edmunds.
In other Round 13 Premier league games, Oxley Vale Attunga def Gunnedah United 2-0, Joeys FC def East Armidale 6-0 and Tamworth FC and Demon Knights played out a 2-all draw.
