AMBA McKee is proof you can dance your way through life.
The Love to Dance School of Ballet principal has been dancing since she was five years old, and at 33, she is sharing her passion with more than 150 other dancing enthusiasts.
“My mum couldn’t keep me still,” Ms McKee laughed.
“I love to move, and I love music.”
Ms McKee studied at the Victorian College of the Arts and was a student at the dance school, then called Keen to Dance, under Jane Inglis-Keen.
She took over about seven years ago and changed the name to Love to Dance, and now holds over 40 classes a week at Yarraville Community Centre.
Dancers range in age between three years and adulthood.
And history is repeating itself, with two students of Ms McKee also turning into teachers.
Beth Kerr and Felix Palmerson are teaching young ones while still studying for their dance exams.
The pair hope one day to become professional dancers.
The Love to Dance School of Ballet re-opens on Saturday. It teaches jazz, contemporary dance, tap and, of course, ballet.
