RESIDENTS and visitors across Wyndham celebrated Australia Day under a brilliant blue sky last week.
Thousands of people headed to the Werribee South Foreshore to enjoy the beach, waving Australian flags, wearing patriotically-coloured clothes and enjoying their picnics.
Live music and Australian-themed games kept families occupied, while the Werribee South Fishing Club barbecued a thousand sausages for hungry children and parents.
A spectacular fire-works display rounded out the evening, which was organised by Wyndham City Council and community groups.
At another Australia Day event, the Tarneit North Residents’ Association and the Tarneit Community Learning Centre held a free sausage sizzle, cultural performances and ‘come and try sessions’.
Many youngsters enjoyed the day and had their faces painted with the Australian flag and other national symbols.
Wyndham City Council said any residents whose pet dogs ran away during fireworks can contact the Wyndham City Pound on 9742 0958.
