Fire brigade sets $50,000 target

By Stephen Linnell
WYNDHAM’S fire brigade members have set a target of more than $50,000 this week to go toward the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.
Brigade members will be door knocking in Hoppers Crossing, Point Cook, Tarneit, Wyndham Vale and Werribee areas this Friday. The Werribee Fire Brigade has been participating in the appeal for more than 35 years.
It is calling for residents to assist its members collecting on the day. Individuals, families, school students and community groups are invited to assist.
The brigade will be co-ordinating its activities from the Werribee Fire Station at the corner of Gibbons and Anderson Streets Werribee. Activities will start at 9 am and continue until 6pm.
This year Channel 7 will be at Werribee Fire station to launch its TV coverage on the day and the Melbourne Fire Museum will have some antique fire trucks on display.
Lunch and refreshments will be available for collectors during the day and all collectors will be supervised as well as being driven to and from their collection areas.
Any offers of help or assistance can be made direct to the Werribee Fire Station before the day, on 9742 7009.
