WHEN a volunteer knocks on your door on behalf of the Doorknock Appeal, please give generously.
That’s the heartfelt message from National Heart Foundation of Australia ambassador Ian Collins.
The appeal aims to raise $550,000 in Victoria for critical research and community projects to improve awareness, prevention and treatment of heart disease.
A resident of East Keilor, Mr Collins is chief executive officer of the Telstra Dome and president of the Carlton Football Club.
He struggled with cardiovascular disease earlier this year and says residents should be aware that the disease affects women as well as men.
“I’ve got three daughters, so I’m very conscious that if it’s something that is in the family then everybody should be aware of it and make sure they get the right tests done,” Mr Collins said.
The appeal continues until Sunday.
