SUNSHINE’S defining industrial past has been captured and put on display for Brimbank’s 21st-century youth to admire, with new photos and images depicting the Sunshine Harvester Works going on show at the Visy Cares Hub.
Brimbank City Council mayor Margaret Giudice was on hand last Thursday to open the new exhibition of historic photos, which have been made available by the Sunshine and District and Historical Society, with funding for the project coming from the Sunshine Foundation.
The Visy Cares Hub is a youth centre available to Brimbank youths aged between 12 and 25, offering education, employment, housing ser-vices and advice on legal matters to assist in improving their chances later on in life.
The exhibition will form a permanent part of the new youth centre.
The Sunshine Harvester Works factory was one of the biggest agricultural equipment factories in the southern hemisphere during the early part of last century, employing thousands of people.
