Jessica on the road to a career

WHILE most high school students are flipping burgers for a buck, one Wyndham Vale teenager is working with a leading Australian freight company in Altona.
Jessica Le noury, 17, scored an Australian school-based apprentice award last week for her hard work as a trainee at Toll IPEC.
The Werribee Community Centre student, undertaking her Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning, has been combining studies with shifts revolving around Toll IPEC’s key areas of customer service, sales and more.
“I move to a different area every six months and I love it,” she said.
“The award came as a real surprise and when I told my teacher they said it was a big achievement.”
Ms Le noury started with Toll IPEC 12-months-ago after signing up to be considered for the traineeship.
“I was up to putting my name down for anything to get the experience,” she said.
She works one day each week at Toll IPEC and her VCAL classes fit in with her placement hours.“Juggling the two can be a bit difficult,” she said.
“But sometimes it makes it easier because what we learn in class overlaps so that it ends up refreshing my memory.”
Ms Le noury said she hoped to get a full-time job with Toll IPEC once she graduated at the end of the year.
“At the end of my traineeship they can ask me to come back and it means I will have experience in four of the main sections,” she said.
“And if not, I will have these skills that I can take somewhere else to get a job.”
