A 27-YEAR-OLD Werribee man has been charged over a hit and run in which a woman was critically injured and her toddler son thrown from his pram on a pedestrian crossing in Geelong.
Police said the 31-year-old woman was pushing her 2-year-old son in the pram across the Princes Highway at Norlane, Geelong, when they were hit by a car on Saturday 4 August.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries, and remains in a stable condition.
Her son was treated for minor injuries.
Police said the driver failed to stop, but hit an oncoming vehicle shortly afterwards, abandoned his car and ran off.
A Werribee man has been charged with negligently causing serious injury and police said he may face further charges.
The man was bailed and due to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday).
