DETECTIVES are investigating claims that a young girl was forced into a car in Deer Park early Saturday.
A 10-year-old boy told police about what he believed was a possible abduction and supplied some details. He told police that he saw the girl, aged about 15 years, being forced into a car in Deer St about 9.15am. It is believed that a station wagon pulled up next to the girl and the driver got out and approached the girl who was on the footpath.
The witness told police a struggle then took place between the driver and the girl before she was forced into the front seat.
The station wagon then took off, driving in an erratic manner as the driver still struggled with the victim. The vehicle was described as a dark coloured or green station wagon with a straight back, and heavily scratched paint on the passenger side. As well as the driver, it contained a brown dog with white markings on its chest.
The driver is described as being between 30 and 50, about 167cm, of slim to medium build with short dark curly hair.
A police spokeswoman said police had not been contacted by anyone reporting a missing person and were trying to ascertain if the two people, the girl and the driver, knew each other.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information concerning a missing person, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au
