TWO Werribee sisters are calling on the community to come together for two fun events to help raise money for the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Jill Wilson is the owner of The Quilter’s Café, a new Werribee business that caters to quilters, scrapbookers and knitters.
After setting up the business just seven weeks ago, she will be using it to raise as much money as she can to help fight breast cancer along with her sister Lesley Ward.
From 7 October, she will be holding a competition called Boobalicious in which people are invited to decorate a bra which will then be on display in the store.
Residents can then vote on their favourite bra after making a gold coin donation.
On 18 October, she will be hosting another event, Thanks for the Mammaries, where the winner of bra decorating competition will be announced.
On the night, guests will be treated to a light supper and lots of fun and games for a $20 donation.
Breast cancer survivor and former Olympian, Anne Cross, will also talk about her experience.
Ms Wilson said she was hoping the event would become an annual one.
“I think everyone’s been touched by breast cancer in some way,” Ms Wilson said.
“This is just a fun way for women to make fun of their boobs while raising money for the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
“Hopefully, we can get as many ladies as possible decorating bras and voting on them so we can raise lots of money.”
Thanks for the Mammaries will be held on 18 October at the Quilter’s Café at 4A Pyke St in Werribee.
