AFTER an outstanding season, Jarred Moore was named Werribee’s best-and-fairest player last week.
Moore took home the Bruce Montgomery Trophy on 205 votes with the midfielder a picture of consistency throughout the season.
North Melbourne listed ruckman Daniel Currie was runner-up on 121 votes while Ben Ross finished in third spot.
Werribee coach Scott West was full of praise for Moore.
“Jarred was someone we were keen to get to the club and he has shown in his contribution on and off the field he was the right choice,” West said.
“On field he leads by example, he reads the play so well and he brings his team-mates into the game. He thoroughly deserves this award.”
It was a much closer count in the reserves best-and-fairest with captain Nathan Laracy winning with 130 votes from Jye Bolton (113) in second and Jackson Davis (69) in third.
Also on the night, the retiring Robbie Castello was acknowledged for his services to the Werribee Football Club.
Castello was presented with the match ball from his 169th and last game for the Tigers.
He retired as the club games record holder, captain, best-and-fairest winner and life-member.
Other award winners included, Darcy Fort for best first year player, Mark Stone and Mark Flahavin shared the best club person award while Ben Warren was the leading goal kicker with 59 majors.
