A REGULAR Hungry Jack’s customer may hold the key to solving the Nitin Garg murder case.
Homicide detectives put the call out last week for a male witness who saw an assault at Yarraville’s Cruickshank Park around the time of Mr Garg’s murder.
Mr Garg left Yarraville train station about 9.30pm on 2 January and was walking through Cruickshank Park on his way to work at fast food outlet Hungry Jack’s when he was stabbed in the stomach.
The 21-year-old staggered across Somerville Rd to his workplace, bleeding and pleading for help. He was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, but later died.
Detective Inspector Steve Clark said the patron had seen a number of men, including a Hungry Jack’s staff member, fighting in the park around the time of Mr Garg’s attack.
The unknown witness has described one of the young men as being about 16 or 17 years old and of Caucasian appearance.
“Clearly that witness has some information that we’re keen to follow up and I’d urge him to ring Crime Stoppers,” Det Insp Clark said.
“He may have the missing piece of the puzzle we’re looking for.
“This is a tragic set of circumstances, irrespective of race and as I say to the community we need your help but be reassured that we have plenty of investigators working on this job and I’m confident that we’ll get a good result.”
If anyone has any information on Mr Garg’s murder call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
