WERRIBEE Football Club signed a major sponsorship deal with Avalon Airport last week.
The Werribee Tigers’ home ground will now be known as the Avalon Airport Oval at Chirnside Park.
Werribee Football Club president John Nicol said the $25,000-a-year sponsorship would last for three years, but both parties saw a long-term relationship developing.
Avalon Airport chief executive Justin Giddings said the Tigers was an ideal fit, with Werribee just down the road from the airport.
“It’s a great thing because a lot of the money will be used for junior development and community-orientated things,” he said.
Mr Giddings said the relationship was important because 20 per cent of the airport’s employees lived in the Wyndham area.
The Tigers are expected to unveil the new name at their first home game on 24 April against Gold Coast Football Club.
