USERS of the Ardeer Community Playground on the corner of the Forrest and Yallourn streets are ecstatic with the installation of new swings – as is the playground committee.
The committee has been working hard over the past several years to bring the once neglected park back to life.
Re-development of the park began in August 2008, which saw landscaping, tree planting, artwork and the installation of a new playground.
The absence of swings at the new-look playground prompted Isis Primary Care, a community services provider in the West, to raise money for the swings.
Staff at the service raised more than $2000 to see the installation of the set in early March.
Local resident Nicole Tench said the swings were a great addition to the playground.
“It’s fantastic to see that we now have senior swings. How wonderful of Isis Primary Care staff to do this for us,” she said.
The committee is always looking for more members and ideas of how to further improve the park.
