YOUTH Week will be widely celebrated across the community this week with several councils, community groups and schools hosting activities.
Brimbank City Council kicked off the celebrations with a barbecue, urban art aerosol artists, pro skaters and music at the Keilor Downs Skate Park on Saturday afternoon.
Activities will continue into the week, with a drumming workshop on Wednesday at the St Albans Library from 4pm – 4.45pm for 12-14-year-olds and from 5pm until 5.45pm for 15 to 18-year-olds.
Games nights, youth consultations and movie nights are also part of Youth Week which runs from March 28 until April 4.
The week will culminate with a “2Loud” concert at St Albans Leisure Centre on Saturday from 3pm until 10pm.
Youth week in Brimbank will also see a range of competitions open to young people and will give youths aged between 12 and 25 the chance to take part in a library fines amnesty.
In honour of the week, Brimbank Library is giving young book borrowers the chance to have their fines wiped if they return overdue items and present their member cards.
