Youth speak up

By YASEMIN TALAT

Eighty-five students from schools across Wyndham had their say on issues affecting them and the municipality at the 2013 Youth Forum.
The forum allowed students to discuss their concerns and ask questions of Wyndham’s leaders, including councillors and police.
Topics related to drug, alcohol and mental health issues, the city’s lack of public transport and bullying were among the major concerns.
Harrison Ward Councillor Intaj Khan said he was delighted to see so many of Wyndham’s next generation openly sharing their views.
“If the quality of the young people at the forum is anything to go by, Wyndham’s future is in extremely good hands,” Cr Khan said.
The 2013 Youth Forum was organised by Wyndham Youth Services with support from Wyndham’s Youth Task Force.
The group meets weekly and plays an important role in ensuring ideas generated through the forum are further developed and implemented over the coming months.
