A SMALL band of Maidstone and West Footscray residents have started up a new residents group to highlight the needs of their suburbs.
The group got together after attending a recent Ironbark ward meeting and decided to take a more proactive approach to meeting the needs of their area.
Long-time Maidstone resident Wendy Lang said there was a feeling among residents that Maidstone and West Footscray were not properly represented by the council or State Government.
“There’s no sort of discussion going on between the residents and the council, so maybe the time is right to get those sort of things happening,” Ms Lang said.
“Maidstone tends to be overlooked for some of the council projects or funding. We seem to miss out.”
The core group is hosting a meet and greet BBQ at the Maidstone Community Centre this Sunday from 12pm to 2pm. Email mawfreg@live.com.au for more information.
