YARRAVILLE’S VicRelief Foodbank thanked the food and grocery industry for their contribution to hunger relief efforts at the annual Foodbank Awards last week.
VicRelief Foodbank is Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation, acting as a pantry for the welfare sector by collecting donations from food manufacturers, retailers and farmers and distributing them to charities around the country.
The organisation acknowledged the help of some of the most well known companies in Australia, including Woolworths, Rinoldi, Kraft and Smith’s.
The Leadership Award for extraordinary vision and achievement was presented to Foodbank’s single largest donor, Woolworths Limited, which contributed 2.3 million kilograms of food.
