Cup run at snails’ pace

KINGSVILLE will have its own version of the Oak’s Day Cup on Thursday with the running of this year’s Everlasting Books Snail Oaks. And young William, above, can’t wait. Everlasting Books owner Dharma Picking will hold a special story time before the big race, where crowd favourites Roger, Stan and Debbie will attempt the 60 centimetre course. Ms Picking said snails came from a range of gardens around Melbourne, with last year’s winning snail, Crystal, coming all the way from the Dandenongs. The event will start at 11am this Thursday at Everlasting Books, 238 Somerville Rd, Kingsville. 72521 Picture: KRISTIAN SCOTTKINGSVILLE will have its own version of the Oak’s Day Cup on Thursday with the running of this year’s Everlasting Books Snail Oaks.
