A HOPPERS Crossing man was left for dead last week when he was stabbed in the head after a run in with two other men turned ugly.
A police spokesperson said the serious assault at Brighton Beach occurred when a group of friends drove to Green Point and parked in the car park.
“Shortly after their arrival two men approached the group and started an argument with a 25-year-old Hoppers Crossing man,” the spokesperson said.
“The situation escalated and the Hoppers Crossing man received a stab wound to the stomach and head.”
A friend of the attacked man, a 22-year-old from Altona Meadows, tried to help and was stabbed in the shoulder.
“Both groups then left the area with the victims attempting to get to a hospital,” the police spokesperson said.
“They made it to the St Kilda Sea Baths before calling emergency services.”
Advanced life support paramedic Elisa Cuomo, who attended the incident, said the man was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition.
“The man was quite pale and sweating and was in a serious condition when we arrived,” Ms Cuomo said.
“We gave him some oxygen to help his breathing and pain relief drugs to help settle him. We controlled his bleeding and then his wounds were covered with dressings.”
Police said the attackers were described as in their late 20s, solid build and were believed to be of Indian nationality.
One of the offenders was wearing a red singlet and the other had on a white V-neck T-shirt.
