THE new state-of-the-art Caroline Springs Civic Centre/Library was officially opened on 1 March.
Melton Shire Council mayor Bruce Rowan said the new facilities were innovative joint-use buildings which had been constructed in partnership with Caroline Springs College, Mowbray College, state and federal governments, as well as commercial and community interest.
“This has been successful in meeting early demand for services in the areas of civic, library, recreation, learning and leisure, supporting the development of a fine-grained community. The precinct is now a focus for integrated regional service delivery in the eastern growth corridor of the Shire of Melton,” Cr Rowan said.
The member for Gorton, Brendan O’Connor, attended the opening.
The Caroline Springs Civic Centre offers all council services currently available at the Melton Civic Centre, while the library offers an extensive collection of new books, DVDs and magazines.
The library includes a cafe servery and meeting rooms available for community use.
The leisure centre includes a cafe and three multi-purpose sports courts and will cater for a number of indoor sports and activities including events, meetings, functions and competitions.
