THE Sunshine Residents and Ratepayers Association Inc (SunRRA) has produced the first podcast of its monthly audio newsletter – Sunshine Matters.
The podcast is believed to be the first of its kind from a residents association in Victoria and can be downloaded and listened to from the association’s website www.sunshine.asn.au
“We want to be as informative as possible and with the podcast we can tell people in an entertaining way about local issues they should know about,” SunRRA’s vice-president Garry Collins said.
The first edition for March 2008 features a segment on the increased gambling losses and problem gambling in Brimbank, a “Street Talk” segment where residents are asked their views on rubbish in the streets, and a letter-of-the-month is sourced from the local papers. The podcast is also a showcase for music from local bands, the first edition featuring a track called Mount Derrimut from the group Levitation Theory.
“We believe this to be a first for a resident association in Victoria and we hope to produce a regular monthly audio newsletter to keep residents up to date,” SunRRA president Darlene Reilly said.
The podcast is streamed live from the association’s website and runs for approximately 10 minutes or it can be downloaded onto an mp3 player for later listening.
