POLICE are warning residents to lock up their bikes before criminals ride off on them.
There has been a spate of bike thefts in Wyndham with brazen thieves stealing anything with two wheels out of garages.
A police spokesperson said often the owners could have just left the house for a few seconds, or just be around the other side of the property, but that is all the time it takes for their bicycle to make its way down the road.
“Police would just like to remind you that there are some opportunistic people out there who may see a door wide open or car door unlocked and if no one is around they may take the chance and steal something,” the spokesperson said.
“Be vigilant and secure your valuables that you work hard to have and remember to report any suspicious activity in your area.”
