WYNDHAM Council has shared its excitement at the impending arrival of one of the most popular authors in the world.
Jodi Picoult, author of My Sister’s Keeper and Salem Falls, and her daughter Samantha Van Leer will be coming to Wyndham do discuss their new book, Between the Lines.
The council’s Library Services has joined forces with Collins Booksellers to promote the book and host an evening with Ms Picoult at the Wyndham Vale Library.
Wyndham Mayor Kim McAliney said Jodi Picoult currently had 14 million copies of her books in circulation worldwide.
“It’s a great coup to have Jodi and her daughter Samantha here in Wyndham to promote their new book,” Cr McAliney said.
“This is a wonderful event for Wyndham and the Western Region. The only other venue hosting Jodi and Samantha in Melbourne is the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne.
“This event is sure to attract booklovers from across the state and is a great opportunity to showcase Wyndham Vale Library.”
As revealed by Star last month, Ms Picoult and her daughter will be talking with Denise Hughes from radio station WynFM about their new book and will also be answering questions from the audience and discussing what inspires them and their method for writing.
“The authors are keen for this to be a fun event so dressing up is encouraged and there will prizes for the best costumes, as well as a door prize,” Cr McAliney said.
Jodi Picoult and her daughter Samantha van Leer will appear at the Wyndham Vale Community Learning Centre on Thursday 26 July at 7pm.
Bookings are essential and tickets can be purchased at the Wyndham Cultural Centre or online at www.wyncc.com.au.
