ONE of Wyndham’s most popular events that has brought thousands of tourism dollars into the local economy has received a major shake-up.
Formerly known as Legends on the Lawn and known for bringing some of Australia’s best known musicians from yesteryear to town, the event will now be known as Live on the Lawn and will focus on younger and more contemporary acts.
Set on the lawn out the front of the Werribee Mansion, Live on the Lawn will be held next March and will host former Powderfinger front man Bernard Fanning, Pete Murray, Josh Pyke and Clare Bowdich.
Local band Passerine will also join the stage to entertain the crowd.
Wyndham Council’s Event Manager, Emily Keogh, said Live on the Lawn would be a major part of the West’s events calendar.
“We are so pleased to present such a strong line-up of Australian artists and Werribee Park is a spectacular venue and will provide the perfect backdrop for this truly unique event,” Ms Keogh said.
“Live on the Lawn is a departure from the usual stadium show, with visitors able to enjoy a day out in a magnificent park while listening to acclaimed artists.”
Wyndham Mayor Bob Fairclough said the municipality was the perfect location for a music festival.
“Werribee Park is just 30km from the Melbourne CBD and we are pleased to welcome visitors to events such as Live on the Lawn, while also providing the opportunity for locals to enjoy such a fantastic event so close to home,” Cr Fairclough said.
