Preseason footy fun

IT will be a carnival atmosphere at Braybrook Football Club when it holds its annual junior registration day this Sunday.
The hunt is on for junior members to compete in the Western Region Football League, and Braybrook is getting on the front foot early.
The day will start at 12 noon, with a jumping castle, sausage sizzle and football giveaways for the kids during the afternoon.
“Obviously everyone needs juniors,” Braybrook president Tom Danskin said.
“We’re trying to get a few kids to enrol and join with the Braybrook footy club.”
The club advertised the day in local primary and secondary schools, and is hoping an encouraging turnout will build on last year’s ranks.
In 2005 Braybrook’s under 18 team was forced to withdraw from the competition due to insufficient numbers, and the club competed with under 10 and under 12 teams.
“Every year we try to build and bridge the gap. Kids are the future of the club so you need them to come through the ranks,” Danskin said.
Braybrook is also updating its facilities, with a new clubroom under construction and due for completion after the first few rounds of the season. The club is on the lookout for junior coaches, volunteers and helpers to assist with the upcoming season, and interested parties can contact Tom Danskin on 0425 793 112.
