CHILDREN at Vista Way Kindergarten in Wyndham Vale can use fresh rainwater on their vegie and flower gardens now that they have a new rainwater tank.
The tank, part of a program by City West Water, will save at least 10,000 litres of water a year.
Teacher Jo Bellow said the kinder heard about the community support grants scheme and decided to apply.
“It’s been a real hit since it was installed,” she said.
City West managing director Anne Barker said it was fantastic to see kindergartens taking up the water conservation challenge.
“These projects help make children aware of water issues, and teaches them good water-saving habits from a young age,” she said.
The company plans to contribute $40,000 toward community projects this year.
