Humphries, from Newport, clipped the wheel of the rider ahead and fell, hitting the ground hard.

Humphries suffered broken ribs, a broken collarbone, punctured lung and bleeding on the brain. In A Grade, Footscray Cycling Club stalwart Graham Carlson took the honours in a tough race ahead of Malaysian guest rider Mohammed Amrun, Peter Trigar and Shaun Gatter.
FOOTSCRAY Hockey Club’s State League Men travelled to Berwick on Saturday and brought home the points against bottom-of-the-ladder Casey.
After a tight first half, the Bulldogs got the chocolates in a 5-2 victory.

Shortly after the Bulldogs made it 2-1, this time through Tung Le whose pass into the circle found Tom Griffin who made no mistake.
Casey hit back to tie the game just before halftime, 2-2.
Footscray stepped up a notch in the second to take control of the game eventually taking the lead again through Scott Shaw.
A solo effort from playing coach Mark Whinney got his side two goals in the clear before Shaw iced the game with his second.
