Wait for parking

THE State Government has replied to letters from Wyndham City Council raising concerns over commuter car parking and bus services in the municipality but the council is not expecting an end to travellers’ pain.
Almost four months ago the council wrote to the Transport Minister requesting a range of actions be taken including the construction of additional car parking at Werribee Station and the formalisation of commuter car parking at Hoppers Crossing Station.
Concerns were also raised about the poor bus services throughout the municipality which often don’t connect one suburb to another.
Iramoo Ward Councillor Heather Marcus, who first issued a notice of motion on the issue in April, said a response had been received from both the Transport Minister and the Department of Transport.
“The Transport Minister has confirmed the Department of Transport will review bus services in Wyndham as part of the planning for the new Williams Landing train station and new stations along the Regional Rail Link,” Cr Marcus said.
“The Minister also confirmed that the Department of Transport had begun the design phase for a car park at Werribee Railway Station to the east of the gymnasium and negotiations are underway with Metro regarding formalising a car park at Hoppers Crossing station on the north side of the substation.”
