Hospitals chief resigns

WESTERN Health CEO Jon Evans will step down as head of the West’s largest public health provider in the next month.
Last Tuesday Mr Evans, who has held the CEO position since 2003, announced he would leave his role as head of Western Health on 1 April to take up a position in the private sector.
Western Health runs Sunshine Hospital, in Furlong Rd, Footscray’s Western Hospital, and Williamstown Hospital, along with additional smaller health services across Melbourne’s West.
In a statement last week, Mr Evans said he regretted leaving, and he praised the group’s hard working employees, and the State Government for its support over recent years.
He leaves the group just as work gets underway on the $180 million Sunshine Hospital redevelopment, which the Government announced before last year’s state election.
Western Health’s board and senior management will now launch a search for a new CEO.
